Our journey

This section of the website details the journey we are on to creating clinical excellence. Below, you can find out more about our plans to transform hospital services, our ‘working ideas’ for Phase 2, plans to improve prevention, the story of Path to Excellence so far and also what documents have been published as part of the programme.

The transformation of hospital services alone will not solve the challenges facing us.
We are also thinking about how we change community and primary care services, alongside public health improvement and prevention, which must be of equal importance.

The NHS Long Term Plan makes it quite clear that the NHS must get serious about prevention.
Working with our local communities to prevent ill-health in the first place, is equally as important to us as treating people when they do become unwell.
