Local needs

The needs and expectations of the public are changing.  We are living longer yet more of us are facing complex long-term health issues. This has led to an increase in demand for seven day services across our region.  At the same time, the medical profession is constantly adapting to work with new and emerging treatments.

Based on recent work with the public we know that, at times, people are sometimes unsure which service to approach when they need medical attention. We also know that many people would prefer to see a wider range of services delivered closer to home, with fewer routine appointments and minor medical procedures taking place in hospital settings.

It is important to consider all feedback about services and this is why public consultation will play an important part in all of our forthcoming service reviews.
