Please see on this page footage of a Path to Excellence Phase Two Public Listening Panel event from June 2019.
The second public hearing listening panel as part of Phase Two, it gave interested individuals or organisations the opportunity to provide evidence or ideas on solving the challenges facing local NHS hospital services across South Tyneside and Sunderland.
The panel was chaired by Nicholas Duffin, director of The Consultation Institute, an independent, not-for-profit best practice Institute, promoting high-quality public and stakeholder consultation in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Participants were asked to submit any written materials three working days in advance, by 5pm Monday 3rd June, to allow members of the panel to prepare and to ensure the information was formally received.
Attendees had the opportunity to present their evidence and there was also an opportunity for questions from panel members relating to the attendees evidence.
Each group was offered a maximum of four places to attend, with one person nominated to act as spokesperson to present the group’s evidence to the panel.
The event was broadcast on Facebook Live as well as NHS websites.
On Facebook it generated 780 views. It was also shared six times and also gathered 17 comments.
The NHS has drawn upon the evidence presented to continue to work with staff and clinical teams on viable solutions to be brought to formal public consultation. This will be a wider public debate on how to create the best possible hospital services for the future to serve local communities.
